The Pagoda Island (Holloway Circus), Birmingham
Birmingham Swifts is a free running club for the LGBTQ+ community and allies, open to everyone regardless of ability, age, sexuality or gender. The main weekly social run meets at the Pagoda Island in the city centre on Thursday evenings, covering around 4-5 miles with a run leader accompanying slower runners and loop-back points so faster runners rejoin the group. Bag drop and changing are available nearby at The Fox pub from 6:15pm, and the club also runs Starting Out sessions through the year to help newer runners build up to 5km. It suits anyone wanting a welcoming, inclusive and cost-free way to run in central Birmingham.
Free membership (emergency contact form required after a couple of runs). Runners must be able to run 5km and book onto each week's run via the England Athletics/RunTogether system. Under-18s are not supported. High-visibility clothing required in winter months.
